Understanding Kolbe Scores – What the Four action modes tell you and how to interpret your Kolbe index…
Kolbe career strengths test measures them on a scale of 1-10.
If you have scored 1-3 on this trait, you push on getting the little details and specifics so things are done right, and you are known to keep track of what has worked (or failed) in the past.
You tend to see the big picture. You don’t get bogged down in trivial details and do not need to follow tradition. You are a generalist and see the forest instead of the trees. At times you may be thought of as forgetful or ditzy, but the good thing is you prevent analysis paralysis and are a valuable member of any team.
Precise, judicious and thorough, this Mode deals with detail and complexity, seeking to be both objective and appropriate.
Keen at observing and at gathering information, people who lead with this Mode sometimes discover that information-facts-means more to them than to others.
Sometimes they can be too judicious, seeming overly cautious as they wait for more data.

If you score 1 – 3 in Follow Thru, you tend to cut through red tape and get to the bottom line. You instinctively skip unnecessary steps, find shortcuts, and welcome interruption and multitasking. Because you are not systematic, you respond easily to each moment.
It is best if you can share repetitive or routine tasks with someone else so that you don’t lose interest. Sometimes you can appear to be inconsiderate, but it’s just because you are non-sequential and do not follow the set patterns. you stop bureaucracy and over-regulation and help keep teams and companies from getting boxed in.
If you initiate in this trait, you are change agents that like experimentation and a sense of urgency, being at best when up against a deadline.
With an affinity toward risk, this Mode is spontaneous and intuitive, flexible, and fluent with ideas. People who lead with this Mode are deadline and crisis-oriented. They need an atmosphere of challenge and change, and sometimes they can be impatient.

If you score 1 – 3 in Quick Start, you keep companies and teams from throwing the proverbial baby out with the bath water or from changing so much so quickly that the company loses its identity. You keep initiating Quick Starts from wasting too much time, be better at time management and changing things that cannot or should not be changed, making them an important part of the leadership and innovation team. You prevent chaos and an atmosphere of crisis by creating stability. You do this by keeping changes from getting out-of-hand and working towards agreement about what will remain the same.
If you initiate in this trait, you are the “hands-on” type of people who need to see, touch and feel what they are working on.
Hands-on and craft-oriented, this Mode brings tangible quality to actions. People who lead with this Mode have a strong sense of three-dimensional form and substance and the ability to deal with the concrete. There was no effort that fell outside these clusters of actions or that couldn’t be categorized within them. Their use did not correlate with levels of education, age, amount of training, or experience. Nor did genetics seem to offer an answer; siblings do not necessarily respond in manner to stimuli. The intellect didn’t seem to be a factor, either; children of similar IQ studying in the same classroom reacted differently to educational demands. Nor did it seem to emanate from personality, as I observed there were both gregarious people and shy people who operated best through each Mode, as well as happy and sad people.

I was amazed when the test affirmed my attitude of improvising because I normally keep the main goal in mind and think of ways to adapt in case plans do not go smoothly and needs urgent changes. I also like simplifying processes, removing things that has noncrucial benefits to the goal.

Again, the results here affirms my work process improvement– Frequently revising systems that fit the goal and people and not just doing processes blindly. It is quite accurate. I also find myself dealing with several things at once. I find myself unhappy if I am stuck with a fixed repetitive process.
