- improve communicating with others and delegating the right tasks in one work place.
- Learn your unique abilities and those of your team members
- avoid placing people in areas of responsibility that do not match their unique abilities
- be more productive, reduce burnout and be happier
- improve retention and attraction of top talent

Understanding Kolbe Scores – What the Four action modes tell you and how to interpret your Kolbe index…
Kolbe career strengths test measures them on a scale of 1-10.
If you have scored 1-3 on this trait, you push on getting the little details and specifics so things are done right, and you are known to keep track of what has worked (or failed) in the past.
You tend to see the big picture. You don’t get bogged down in trivial details and do not need to follow tradition. You are a generalist and see the forest instead of the trees. At times you may be thought of as forgetful or ditzy, but the good thing is you prevent analysis paralysis and are a valuable member of any team.
Precise, judicious and thorough, this Mode deals with detail and complexity, seeking to be both objective and appropriate.
Keen at observing and at gathering information, people who lead with this Mode sometimes discover that information-facts-means more to them than to others.
Sometimes they can be too judicious, seeming overly cautious as they wait for more data.
If you initiate in Follow Thru, you are often sought after because you make sure that everything you do has a system.
Methodical and systematic, this Mode is focused and structured, and brings order and efficiency. People who lead with this Mode are meticulous at planning, programming, and designing, and predictability is essential to their being.
Every organization needs people who lead with this strength in their operations, accounts receivable, and design functions. Obviously, there are times when an intense need for order can get out of hand.
It is through the Follow Thru Mode that you are a planner,
designer, regulator, pattern-maker, systematizer, chemist, programmer.
Targeting your efforts through your strength in the Follow Thru Mode requires the freedom to:
- provide service
You will prevent stress and respond to needs by using your Follow Thru Mode to act:
If you score 1 – 3 in Follow Thru, you tend to cut through red tape and get to the bottom line. You instinctively skip unnecessary steps, find shortcuts, and welcome interruption and multitasking. Because you are not systematic, you respond easily to each moment.
It is best if you can share repetitive or routine tasks with someone else so that you don’t lose interest. Sometimes you can appear to be inconsiderate, but it’s just because you are non-sequential and do not follow the set patterns. you stop bureaucracy and over-regulation and help keep teams and companies from getting boxed in.
If you initiate in this trait, you are change agents that like experimentation and a sense of urgency, being at best when up against a deadline.
With an affinity toward risk, this Mode is spontaneous and intuitive, flexible, and fluent with ideas. People who lead with this Mode are deadline and crisis-oriented. They need an atmosphere of challenge and change, and sometimes they can be impatient.
It is through the Quick Start Mode that you are a catalyst,
generalist, innovator, entrepreneur, promoter, improviser.
Targeting your efforts through your strength in the Quick Start Mode
requires the freedom to:
You will prevent stress and respond to needs by using your Quick Start Mode to
If you score 1 – 3 in Quick Start, you keep companies and teams from throwing the proverbial baby out with the bath water or from changing so much so quickly that the company loses its identity. You keep initiating Quick Starts from wasting too much time, be better at time management and changing things that cannot or should not be changed, making them an important part of the leadership and innovation team. You prevent chaos and an atmosphere of crisis by creating stability. You do this by keeping changes from getting out-of-hand and working towards agreement about what will remain the same.
If you initiate in this trait, you are the “hands-on” type of people who need to see, touch and feel what they are working on.
Hands-on and craft-oriented, this Mode brings tangible quality to actions. People who lead with this Mode have a strong sense of three-dimensional form and substance and the ability to deal with the concrete. There was no effort that fell outside these clusters of actions or that couldn’t be categorized within them. Their use did not correlate with levels of education, age, amount of training, or experience. Nor did genetics seem to offer an answer; siblings do not necessarily respond in manner to stimuli. The intellect didn’t seem to be a factor, either; children of similar IQ studying in the same classroom reacted differently to educational demands. Nor did it seem to emanate from personality, as I observed there were both gregarious people and shy people who operated best through each Mode, as well as happy and sad people.
It is through the Implementor Mode that you are a molder,
builder, handcrafter, athlete, manufacturer, agriculturist, artisan.
Targeting your efforts through your strength in the Implementor Mode requires the freedom to:
- use physical effort
- put together
You will prevent stress and respond to needs by using your
Implementor Mode to act:
If you score 1 – 3 in Implementor, you imagine the possibilities and operate best in abstract ideas, rather than concrete solutions. you communicate well with words and do not need a physical model to tell an idea – you just envision it. You have no need for tangible evidence or physical proof.

There were only 36 questions in the exam. There are no right or wrong answers but the result you get is detailed and reveals your core character.
You get a 28 page report about it.
On the first page, you’d get a summary of your traits and an in depth report as you proceed.
My result says that I am excellent at coming up with unique strategies, prioritizing opportunities and dealing with the unknowns in complex problems. You are the go-to person when elaborate projects are in trouble.
I fully agree! – I always want to be different and having a better, creative or efficient way of doing things. I look forward to getting involved with new projects, assessing situations and getting the right skilled people to complete what I am trying to achieve.
What makes it different from other personality test types?
Each of your trait scores are organized and you’d see concise descriptions. It tells you what is right with you to make the most of it.
I was amazed when the test affirmed my attitude of improvising because I normally keep the main goal in mind and think of ways to adapt in case plans do not go smoothly and needs urgent changes. I also like simplifying processes, removing things that has noncrucial benefits to the goal.
You hear an audio explanation of your score. So while going through the rating chart, there’s a voice explaining it real-time.
Then get simplified tips on what to do and not to do.
Again, the results here affirms my work process improvement– Frequently revising systems that fit the goal and people and not just doing processes blindly. It is quite accurate. I also find myself dealing with several things at once. I find myself unhappy if I am stuck with a fixed repetitive process.
Summary of your strength rings. you will see at a glance how much energy you focus on your 4 areas.
I had a personal goal to improve communicating with others and this test also revealed it!
You can also share your detailed result page and summarized version. I like that it summarizes your normal way of thought and process in 4 points based on your scores. It helps how you could approach your next projects in life.
